Twas the night before Christmas....

and the only creature still stirring is Addison...she wont go to sleep...even with the threat that Santa wont come to leave her toys if she doesnt go to sleep. It is still going to be a great night once she does fall asleep. We have a lot still to wrap and get ready for tomorrow. Josh has a couple of guys coming for dinner tomorrow, so I need to plan dinner. We got a holiday food basket from the ship and it contained all of the fixin's for Christmas dinner, so I will be cooking tomorrow. Instead of turkey, we will have chicken! I will take some pics of tomorrow and I will post them tomorrow some time. Good night everyone and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Its official!! JOSH IS HOME!!!! The ship pulled into port this morning and we were there to welcome it home! We were waiting on LPD-17 USS San Antonio to watch it come to the piers. Afterwards, we were escorted on board. Josh got a nice surprise since I didnt even know it until it happened. He wasnt expecting us till later in the day, but he got to see us early. Both of the kids were soooo excited!!! He has duty until 8 am and then he will be home with us until the 27th, when he had duty again. I will get some pics uploaded and post them here soon. Thanks for listening to all my troubles while he has been gone!

Here is a piece from a local news station

We've had a Navy homecoming every day this week.

But Friday, the sailors were not coming home from deployment.

Instead they were coming home after building the newest ship in the Navy.

It's USS Mesa Verde, the third in a new class of ships that's seen it's share of problems.

Built in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Mesa Verde's trip to its homeport in Norfolk was delayed a year and a half when Hurricane Katrina hit the shipyard there. Nine construction-crew members lost their home.

Making its way past the other ships tied up at the piers at Naval Station Norfolk, Mesa Verde definitely looked different. The masts are enclosed on the ship giving the ship a sleeker look and protecting radar and communications antennae from weather and reducing the ship's vulnerability to detection by the enemy.

The trip was a long time coming for families, many who have lived here alone while their sailors worked on the ship in Mississippi for the past three years.

While the Mesa Verde is the third in the new San Antonio class, it will actually be the first of the class to deploy. That's because those first two ships, USS San Antonio and USS New Orleans, had millions of dollars worth of design problems. They're still working out the kinks now.

The $1.3 billion dollar Mesa Verde is apparently having fewer problems.

"All of the ships are getting better all the time, and each ship continues to improve and to be better than the one before," said Cmdr. Shawn Lobree, Commanding Officer of USS Mesa Verde.

"It feels great," said Senior Chief Robert Hill. "It's been three years building it and it's been a long time. It's really good to be back here in Norfolk."

The sailors get to settle into their permanent home station over the Christmas holiday. It will still be another one and a half to two years of testing and training before mesa verde can deploy.

Josh just sent me a text message to let me know that they are officially underway and on their way home!!! I am sooooooooo excited! I was able to talk to him for a minute earlier after they got back from the cruise before they were going to get things ready to get underway. SO he is on the way and they wont be stopping so I am really looking forward to Friday. He said that the commissioning went well on Saturday.

On another note...I am sick right now. This just sucks. At least I will get it now and hopefully Christmas will be good!!! Addison wasnt feeling good the other day, so I think I just got it from her.

And for a potty training update. No diapers, no accidents. I am soo freaking proud of her!!! She even knows when she needs to go without me prompting her. She has made it 12 hours overnight with no accidents. Last night, she didnt even have a pull up aka Night time panties on. She has worn it for three nights prior and no accidents so I figured it would be okay to let her go without.

I will keep you all updated as the week goes on...

Day 7....

And she is still doing fantastic! We are day 3 of no accidents! I know that they will happen, but she is doing sooooo good with knowing when to go on her own. I am so unbelieveably proud of her and I make sure to tell her that too!!! She even went two hours during church last night with out any accidents or going! I took her before I dropped her off in her class and she didnt go while she was in class so I took her afterwards! YEAH!!!! I really never thought that it would be this easy, but I know that it has been a long time coming.

So now we are down to single digits till Josh gets home. YIPPIE!!!!! He has duty the day that they get back, but I will take the kids up to see him when the ships gets in. I am really excited to see the ship and so it Addison!!!

I am in the process of setting up a website for a business and I am really excited about it. Stephy has been helping me with it all, designing the layout and how to get it ready. (THANK YOU STEPHANIE!!!!!!)

So as soon as it is all done and open for business, I will post the link here for all to see!!!

5 days and going strong!!!

The potty training continues..

Addison has been doing very is a recap of the last few days....

She did have two accidents thru the day on Saturday, but she never soaked herself. She started to pee and realized it and would run to the bathroom and finish in the potty! That night, I didnt wake her up before I went to bed, but was going to get her up at 3 when I couldnt sleep. I had just missed her window and she had wet the bed. I told her that it was okay because accidents do happen. She helped me make the bed up and we went to sleep. We slept in because Preston allowed us too, and she did great from then on. On Sunday, I had to leave the house and go to Walmart and the NEX and it was our first venture out of the house without a diaper. I made her go before we left the house, and as soon as we got to Walmart. We were there about an hour and I made her go before we left there. We got to the NEX and we were there about an hour as well, and she held it till we got home. Again, so proud of her!!!! That night, I woke her up to go pee before I went to bed and no accidents either. Monday she did have a couple of accidents, but nothing major, barely wetting herself. Last night, I did put a pull up on but I told her that it was her night time big girl panties and that she couldnt pee in them either. So at about 1:30, sat up straight in bed and I asked her if she needed to go potty and she said yes so i picked her up and took to go potty. She went and woke up this morning still dry!!!! Today, I was a little worried, she had to go to her babysitter and I told her baby sitter last night that she was potty trained and to work with her today and to my surprise, no accidents at all!!! Still, now that we are home, still no pee outside of the potty. And she has started to recognize when she needs to go before she does. She will start to hold herself or do the pee pee dance and I will ask her if she needs to go and she says yes and runs to go.

I am so completely proud of her and she knows it too! I call her a rock star and she just eats it up!!! I told her that if she keeps it up and stays acting like a big girl then Santa would be bringing her an extra special "big girl" present for Christmas!! I think I will get her a special necklace or something really special!!!

10 days and counting....I cant believe tomorrow starts the Single Digit Countdown for Josh to return home. Whats even better, being able to say he will be home NEXT WEEK!!!!

Addison has now gone almost 48 hours without wearing a diaper!!!

I am so freaking proud of her!!! AND she has made it thru two naps and one overnight with no accident!!!! She had a minor accident tonight where she started to pee, but realized it and ran to the bathroom and hopped up on the potty and finished peeing in the potty!!!

It all started yesterday morning when she woke up and had to go potty so she did and said that she wanted to wear her big girl panties and I told her that she could, but when mommy told her it was time to go potty, that she had to go with no arguing. I set our alarm clock since it has two alarms and started with every 30 minutes and moved it to 45 minutes and eventually every hour. She did great!!! No accidents at all and she actually peed everytime she went. I woke her up at 2 this morning before I went to bed to give her a chance to pee and she did, but barely any. She slept till 10:15 this morning and still no accidents! I told her when she woke up that she had to go potty and she did!!!

My little girl is growing up so fast!!! No more diapers for her!!!

Now, the real test comes when we leave the house! But I still think that she will do okay!

As for little man...
He started to say mum ma yesterday for the first time. Everytime I say it, he usually says da da. Silly boy...He also started to clap his hands and say hi yesterday. He also stood alone for about a minute. That is the longest he has done that. But he has no intention of walking yet. He doesnt even really want to take a step while holding your hands. Thats fine with me, I want him to wait till his daddy gets home! I am hoping that he will take his first steps on Chrismas day! How awesome would that be?

Josh will be home in 12 days!! We cant wait! We are so excited!!!!

Well, I will keep everyone updated on how the potty training is going!!!

I just hate days like today. I am just so frustrated and for no apparent reason. My temper is just short and I just feel like shit. I have a headache, and that could be part of it. I just put Preston to bed, and he has started that stupid high pitched squeal/screaming again and I think that is part of it too. It just drives me batty. I try to distract him when he does it, but he is doing out of protest. Whenever he wants to be in the spotlight, he does it. I try not to pay attention to it so he doesnt think that all he has to do is scream at me, but I dont know what else to do. Addison on the other hand, has been doing really well lately. The whining has all but ceased, and the fits are getting shorted and more distant. Dont get me wrong, she still has her moments, afterall, she is still 2. But she is getting much better. She still has some difficulty listening to me when I tell her no, mostly because she wants her way, but I have just started to ignore her and tell her that when she is can stop crying and can listen to me, I will talk to her. So we are improving there.

Josh comes home two weeks from tomorrow. I am so happy about that. Granted, he has duty the same day he gets home and that means he has to stay on the ship, but I do believe that we will be able to go onto the ship to see him the day he gets back. I am so ready for him to be here and for me to be able to have a break. I know that I wont get much of one, but just to have some one here to help with changing diapers or feeding a meal, would be nice.

I think that is all for now... I cant think of much more to say.

22 days and counting....

Till Josh arrives in port. I cannot wait! We are so excited to be a family again!! The last 5 months have been long and somewhat hard, but we have managed. I am just ready to have some normalcy back in my life with Josh. I want to get back into our routine of him going to work, coming home for dinner, putting the kids in bed at their bedtimes, and just enjoying the adult conversation until we are ready for bed ourselves. I know that he wont be here every third day because of Duty, but that is tolerable. I just miss waking up every morning and him being there. So, three weeks from tomorrow morning they will be pulling into the Chesapeake bay and will be making their way to their pier for the first time ever. How exciting??? Addison cant wait to see daddys ship get here. She remembers when uncle Nicky's came back in May and granted that this will be different, the concept is the same. So in the meantime, I will continue to work so we can use that money for Christmas and just wait for him to come home!!

I know...nothing too exciting today....I picked up our portraits from JCP yesterday so I will be working on our Christmas cards today. I will post them when they are done....

Oh I almost forgot...I got to meet Robert Irvine from the Food Network show Dinner Impossible the other day. He was doing a book signing at our NEX (navy exchange, like a target meets dillards) and I got his book and he signed it and got some pics of him. I need to upload them and post them here...

I have been slacking...

So I have been slacking in this department. It has been a long two weeks, with a vacation mixed in and two kids getting over their colds, and of course, a holiday. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, we drove up last Monday to New Jersey to spend the week with my aunt Lori and uncle Kevin. Preston just loves his cooking and of course the dogs love Preston for eating. Addison has been very whiny lately, and very uncooperative and argumentative. But I really enjoying going up there because I get to do something that I love and it is kinda a hidden talent I guess you could say. Sewing. I LOVE IT!!! Lori showed me a great pattern for these bags, kinda like cosmetic bags, but in three different sizes and I am thinking about selling them. They are a lot of fun to make and are really cute!!! Here are some pics:

I think I will try to couple the bags with baby announcements and photo greetings and create my own business. It cant hurt, right?

Be back later.....

He's Here!!!

Well, he made it!! I didnt sleep very well last night which I knew I wouldnt. I didnt fall asleep until about 4:20 and Preston was up at 7:30. Thankfully, he let me lay back down till about 9:30. Addison got up at around 10:15 and Josh got home at 10:30. It was so great to see his face! I have missed him so much!!!

As far as our health goes, Preston is the only one starting to make an improvement. I feel a little bit better, but not much. Addison is getting worse. She has the cough now with the chest congestion. I will be taking her back to the doctor this week. I am trying to give it a few days to see if it will improve on its own, but I dont know if it will or not. I am giving it till tomorrow. If she is not any better, then I will take her in. She sounds just awful!!

On another sad note, my aunt posted on our family forum that my cousin is having to have a D&C. She was 12 weeks along and the baby only measured 6 weeks and there is no heartbeat. Her husband is also Navy and he is gone for a week out to sea. I think she is having the D&C today I do believe. It is really sad...

Since Preston is taking a nap, I am going to take advantage of some down time. Be back later!!!

I am sooooooo over this...

I want the sick bug OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!! I am done. I dont want to be sick anymore, I dont want my kids to be sick anymore. I am really hoping that when we go to the doctor this afternoon, that it is a bacteria rather than a virus, because then we can have antibiotics to get better faster. Preston hasnt been eating very well the last two days, and I am sure that it is because his lil tummy is just full of snot. Addison, has been the same too. Me on the other hand, I have had a touch of a stomach bug too, so food just doesnt agree with me. But now, I am on day two of this sinus head crap. My right ear is KILLING me, my throat hurts, I cant breathe and my eyes are killing me too. I just want to feel better...I dont want to be sick anymore....I am also going to ask the doctor today what he thinks about mold infestation. I am going to call about it when Josh gets here, since he is the active duty person and that way he can be here if there is anything and the housing office has to do anything. That way, I wont be alone in all of this.

On another note...this stupid strike with the writers and actors is so beyond being is nothing but greed. They want a cut of the internet stuff. Granted, it is only right, but I mean COME ON!!!! You people are so filthy rich, what is $100,000 grand going to do?? Huh? Is it going to make you miss a house payment? Will they shut your lights off without it?? need to stop being so greedy and just get what you get....At the same time, a lot of things that get uploaded to youtube is recorded. So why are they not going after the people who are breaking copyright laws and posting it on the internet?? Seems like it should be them that are paying for it, not us that are missing out on our TV my soapbox....

Prayers are answered and miracles do happen!!!!

I will try to make it short.

16 years ago, my grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer. They found it early and he had surgery done and went into remission. He has been healthy all the time, never had to do any chemo or any radiation. Surgery solved it all since it was found so early due to his attention to his body and getting his physical every year. Every year for the last 16 years, he gets his PSA levels checked twice a year and they have been great, up until May. He had his levels checked and they had risen, which usually means cancer. It is very rare that prostate cancer comes back after the first five years, let alone 16. He had all the screenings done to try to find the cancer, and they couldnt find anything. So his treatment options were surgery again, or Depo Lupron, yes, you heard me right, Lupron. The same medicine that they give women and it puts them into psuedo menopause and it is used to treat endo and to help with IVF. It is still experimintal in a way to help treat prostate cancer. It wont kill it, but it will slow the growth significantly. He decided to do the Lupron, because surgery just wasnt an option for him. He already had the corrective surgery after the surgery to remove the cancer so going to the bathroom is already an issue for him and he didnt want to make it worse, and I dont blame him. The family was all informed of this in June, and to make it worse, they told me in person when I went home for my HS reunion. Of course, my drama queen of a grandmother had me thinking that he was on his death bed, but he wasnt at all.

So fast forward to yesterday...I knew that they were going to be rechecking his levels again in October since he had gone thru the first four months of the lupron. WELL...his level in May was 4, yesterday,

0!!! ZERO!!!!!

We have all been praying so hard that this would just either be a fluke or that that the cancer would just disappear and it seems that our prayers have been answered and my grandfather is the recepient of a miracle!!!! We are so excited and so happy!!! I want him to live so long so he can watch my kids grow up. That is/was something that is so important to me since he was my father figure growing up and of course the favorite grandkid!!

So I just wanted to share my news and hopefully it will brighten someone elses day!!!!

Its only Wednesday...

and that means that Josh will be here in 6 more days. I am so happy!! I am so excited!!! When we talked last night, he was kinda thinking that it might make more sense to stay home instead of going to florida for the commissioning of the ship, but I really want to go!! I told him that maybe his mom could fly up here and then I could just fly down by myself or something. I dont know. I guess if I didnt go, it really wouldnt be that big of a deal, since he is coming next week. It would save money and we could actually do presents for Christmas, since this is Preston's first Christmas and Addisons first to really enjoy it. So maybe I will just stay home. We were thinkng it would cost between $775-$1000 to make the trip, and that would be a lot of money we could use towards Christmas. So this is all weighing on me today. And the kids are still sick...I am starting to feel a little better, but Addison sounds awful this morning, just so congested, and Preston is a little more perky today, but still got the runny snotty gross nose. Still cant breathe thru his nose and it is just awful sounding. I think I will take them to the walk in clinic this afternoon since I really need to work tomorrow, but I just hate to take my kids sick to the babysitter....we shall see...okay, Preston is hungry and I need to go and feed him....

The advantage to being cute.....

Addison is really lucky that she is so damn cute...It saved her ass this morning. I had been up since about 4:30 with Preston just not wanting to do anything...he cried when I held him, he cried when I laid down with him, he cried when he played. There was no satisfying that sick child. SO I gave up and let him play/cry on the floor, and I laid back down. Addison was still asleep in the bed when I did this. Well, Preston started crying yet again and screaming so I woke back up. Addison is sitting there next to me, and she was really quiet. I said Addison and she turned around and this is what I saw....

She had decided to give herself a full body massage with the Butt Paste. At first I was livid...but when I looked at her, I just started to laugh. I couldnt help it. I mean, how can you get mad at that!! That is fecking hilarious!!!! So she got a bath first thing this morning. She still has a layer of stuff on her, but I got it off as best I could. It is much different to get it off when it is their butt compared to their face, neck, arms, legs, hair....such a silly girl.

Then there is Preston. Poor thing had been up since about 4:30 with no sleep. I put him in his chair and he was eating cheerios while I got her bath ready. He was being particularly quiet so I came back to check on him...and this is what I found...

How cute is that?? This is the second time he has ever fallen asleep in his high chair. He didnt even eat breakfast...He never made it that far! Poor baby.

Okay, I think that will do it for now...will write more later!!

Blah. I hate monday's....

Well, my suspicions are true. I am now getting something...and so are the kids. Just fecking wonderful. I know that my brother's twins have had some kind of cold, and I kinda figured it was inevitable, but I am SOOOO TIRED OF BEING SICK!!! I mean, can I just catch a small break??? Please?? Preston slept ehh all night, he was restless but still slept. You can always tell when he is sick by his cry, it becomes more nasaly. Then Nick's little boy was up all night sick and is running a fever too. Addison is now asleep in my bed because she "dont feel good". She too, is sneezing and congested. So a day in the life of a sick house. Lovely.

On a good note, Josh sent me the information about the family cruise aboard his new ship. It is getting closer and closer!!! I cant wait to go to Florida to see the commissioning and the ship and meet his command. I know a few people, but I look forward to spending some time getting to know these people that he has been surrounded by for the last four months. He will be leaving next monday to drive up here so I am REALLY excited about that! WOO HOO!! 6 days with my husband is so divine!!! Hell, the sex is always great!!! That alone is worth the wait!!!!

Enough for back later....

Just wonderful....

Here it is, 10:47 pm and I feel like doo doo. My muscles are hurting like I am getting the flu. To top it off, my throat has been hurting since yesterday too. Blah. Addison is still awake since she took an impromptu nap today. I laid Preston down at around 4 and he wasnt having it. Since I was tired too, I laid down with him. Addison was watching a movie and playing. Usually when I lay down with him, she comes in about every 15-20 minutes to tell me something. Today, nothing. So when Preston woke me up, I heard nothing. Which any mother knows that that usually means something isnt right. I get up and take him with me to the living room aka the playroom, and there she is....asleep on the floor! It was adorable!!! She had fallen asleep watching Aladdin. She had her feet on the entertainment center and was on her tummy all tucked in. I picked her up and laid her on the couch, where she finished her nap. I guess the time change really does affect them too...I know that I love this time change, but man, it takes me almost two weeks to get use to it. I had to get into the secret movie stash to get her to go to sleep. I ordered four movies from the Disney Movie club for $1 and I got her Dumbo, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Mary Poppins. I cant let her watch an animated movie, because she wont go to sleep. She will fight it and stay awake to watch the whole movie. So I opened Mary Poppins and put it in. It sucks, since it is her Christmas present, but since my brother and his wife and kids are here right now and they are staying in her room, she is a little out of place so she of course gets what she wants. It is the only way to appease her right now, and honestly, I am not willing to fight her. Once they leave, she will have no choice but to get back on her schedule.

I also found the poop culprit today. I now know why Preston has been so damn poopy lately. He is cutting yet another tooth. At least this one is soooooooooooo much better than the others. Normally, he would not sleep thru the night but this one he has. He just has been poopy...but that just means one more tooth on the road to toddler hood. He has also started to cruise here lately. I hope that means he will start walking once Josh gets home, wether it is next week or if it is in December when he gets home for good. ]

I think that will do it for tonight...i am pretty pooped and I have a couple of siggy requests to get done by tomorrow so I need to at least do one of them....Goodnight!!! Much love to ya!!

5 am?!?!?!

So, Preston decided that it is time to wake up. Doesnt he know that mommy wants to sleep past 5 am?? But when I stop and think about it, there was the time change and all. So technically it was 6 am when he woke up but he still went back to sleep as soon as I laid him down with me. Then, he was up for the day at 7 am. Again, technically 8 am. But still, I was not ready for my day to start. So since Nick is here, he let Candi and I sleep, and he took care of the babies. That was nice of him, and I got to sleep till 10. We has some wine last night and I needed that extra sleep. More than you know!! Other than that, the day has been pretty uneventful so far....we shall see...I still have to get out later and go to the NEX and get diapers and then go to the commisary and get groceries. UGH...I hate grocery shopping...

How much poop???

Really...How much poop can one kid have?? I have changed P's diaper at least 4 times today and each one, poop. I wish he would stop pooping so damn much. And he needs to learn how to make them smell like roses!!

I guess I am on the bandwagon too...

I guess I will join everyone else and get me a blog. I guess I really should have one...considering all the thoughts that I ponder thru the day...I can bitch about whatever and it is okay, because it is my blog after all...

So, now I have succummed to peer pressure and want to be one of the cool kids, so enjoy my blogging!!!
